Children & Education

Mad Dog is committed to supporting the children and young people in our community through our work with organizations that prepare our children to be productive, independent, healthy and happy members of our community. We are committed to the understanding that a good foundation enables a child to have a strong future.

 Children

Kelly and Laurie Dozier were among the first to join the United Way of the Big Bend and the Chiles Foundation in their effort to establish Whole Child Leon in our community. Serving as Vice-Chairs of WCL for the first three years, Kelly and Laurie helped launch the organization, were members of the Steering Committee and chaired Action Teams. Laurie and daughter Kristin Dozier currently serve on the Steering Committee and Laurie continues his position as chair of the Spiritual Foundation and Strength action team. Kelly and Kristin have both served as chair of the Safe and Nurturing Environment action team.

Laurie and Kelly Dozier have supported the Children’s Home Society of North Florida for many years.  In 2001, Mad Dog Construction was chosen to partner with CHS to build its new headquarters in Tallahassee. Mad Dog, and the Dozier's, worked closely with CHS on their capital campaign and donated much of the profit from the construction project back to CHS helping to make this dream a reality.

In February of 2002, Laurie and Kelly Dozier were recognized for their long-standing contributions to the Children’s Home Society by being named the R. David Thomas Child Advocates of the Year.  The Leon County Commission declared February 21, 2002 as Kelly and Laurie Dozier Day.
